Hello, I'm Joe Hernandez. I was born in Lakewood, California 🌴 and moved to Minnesota ❄️ at a young age. I've always had a deep interest in electronics—taking things apart, modifying them, and learning how they worked. From customizing hardware to experimenting with different components, I enjoyed exploring the mechanics behind everyday devices 🔧.
When the iPhone was released 📱, I became captivated by the idea of being able to run websites from anywhere 🌐. Then, when the App Store launched 🛠️, I realized I wanted to become a software engineer—to create applications that people could use every day. I taught myself Objective-C, along with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and even managed to deploy a few simple games to the Apple Store 🎮!
When Swift first came out 🚀, I jumped right in and began learning it. However, over time, I found myself drawn more to backend development 💻. I started exploring languages like Java ☕ and C#, which eventually led me to the world of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). I discovered that I have a passion for troubleshooting 🔍 and ensuring a seamless experience for users, which is what brought me into the SRE field.
Today, I'm passionate about building robust, scalable infrastructures 🌳 and automating processes to deliver the highest quality experiences for end users.
